A Palm Beach County jury today convicted a man of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and other charges stemming from a brutal attack on his girlfriend, State Attorney Alexcia Cox announces.

After a six-day trial, Craig Hansell was found guilty of two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and physical force, domestic battery by strangulation, false imprisonment, and aggravated assault.

The victim courageously testified about the August 2024 attack inside her Boca Raton apartment, which occurred while she was dating the defendant.

Assistant State Attorneys Lindsay Bruno and Gabriel Montiel of the Special Victims Unit prosecuted the case. We also thank the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office detectives for their investigation.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Dec. 22.
