A jury found Travis Renaud Miller, 37, guilty of one first-degree felony count of “Tampering with a Victim/Witness/Informant” and one misdemeanor count of “Violation of a Pre-trial Release Condition (Domestic).”

The defendant knowingly placed over 112 phone calls to the victim over a 30-day period, in direct violation of a court-issued No Contact Order.

During these calls, in the fall of 2023, the defendant attempted to coerce the victim into not cooperating with prosecutors by requesting that she lie regarding her health issues and the crime committed against her.

Miller sought to justify his actions by claiming that, due to his past support of the victim, she now owed him this favor.

At a two-day trial, prosecutors argued this conduct represented a clear attempt by the defendant to avoid accountability for his actions.

Circuit Judge Caroline Shepherd presided over the trial, during which jurors deliberated for nearly 3.5 hours before reaching a verdict.

Miller’s sentencing date has not yet been set. The charges are punishable by up to 31 years behind bars.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Derrick Gaiter, with Chief of Domestic Violence Wendy Borrego serving as co-counsel.

Miller still faces counts of kidnapping, domestic battery by strangulation, and battery (domestic).
