Internship Program

Law students can apply for semester or summer internships at the State Attorney’s Office.

With approval from the school, internships may be taken for credit.

Although there is no requirement that students are enrolled in a particular major, many students are taking either pre-law or criminal justice courses.

All students will be interviewed.  The interview allows the office to determine the students’ interests and skill sets.  Students may be placed in a division where there is a need for assistance.  In addition, students will undergo a background check and fingerprinting prior to their internships.

The Florida Supreme Court can certify law students to be Certified Legal Interns (CLI).  As CLIs, law students are able to speak in court and to participate in trials and motions.  They will have the opportunity to interact with judges, defense counsel and law enforcement agencies.

Opportunities

Looking for a rewarding way to give back to your community, gain new skills and make an important contribution?  The State Attorney’s Office offers a fast paced, stimulating and welcoming environment.  Opportunities are available for people with a wide range of skills, interests and objectives. 

Volunteers

Opportunities, with flexible scheduling, are available for those with general business and life experiences as well as for retired professionals such as Attorneys, Judges, CPAs and Law Enforcement professionals.

The office provides the following volunteer opportunities:

  • Victim contact and follow up
  • Court operations support
  • General business and administrative support
  • Audio Visual
  • Research, appeals and trial preparation

Location

Opportunities are in the main office in West Palm Beach or satellite offices in Palm Beach Gardens, Delray Beach or Belle Glade. 

Volunteer Program Application and Expectations

For more informationcontact the Volunteer Coordinator who can assess your interests, availability and skills within the context of the current needs of the State Attorney’s Office.  

Prior to participating in the Volunteer Program, candidates must undergo a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.
