A jury on Wednesday found a man guilty in a 2022 homicide case, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office announces.

Juan C. Viera, 46, was convicted of first-degree felony murder with a firearm, after the jury deliberated for about three hours. The victim was shot to death on a sidewalk in suburban West Palm Beach.

Following the verdict, the court sentenced Viera to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Assistant State Attorney Marci Rex and Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Chrichet Mixon prosecuted the case. We thank the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and lead Detective Jeremy Gelfand and assisting Detective Lenndy Chiquito-Rodriguez.

The victim’s family spoke at the sentencing and expressed appreciation for the State Attorney’s Office and law enforcement for getting justice for their loved one.
