Palm Beach County State Attorney Alexcia Cox announces that a judge has sentenced Toni McCauley to 16.6 years in prison after a jury found her guilty of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, DUI causing serious bodily injury, and DUI causing bodily injury.

Evidence presented at trial showed that McCauley, a police dispatcher, had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit when she drove her SUV on the wrong side of the road. She crashed head-on into an SUV driven by a 37-year-old woman who had her two young children in the vehicle. The mother died from injuries suffered in the July 27, 2023, crash. Both children survived. One suffered a traumatic brain injury, while the other sustained less severe injuries.

Following her release from prison, McCauley must serve five years of drug offender probation. As a condition of probation, she must serve one day in jail each year on July 27, the anniversary of the crash. Her driver’s license was also permanently revoked.
