The Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office announces that a jury on Wednesday returned a guilty verdict in a 2023 homicide.

After a four-day trial, Akeem Rivers, 28, was convicted of first-degree murder with a firearm. He shot and killed an unarmed, 41-year-man during a road rage incident, near the intersection of Northlake Boulevard and North Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens.

Following the verdict, the court sentenced Rivers to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Assistant State Attorneys Mathri Thannikkotu and Marci Rex prosecuted the case and obtained justice for the victim’s family.
