New Data Show Palm Beach County Conviction Rates Among Highest in State

The latest statistics from the Office of the State Courts Administrator show the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office ranks 3rd out of the state’s 20 Judicial Circuits for felony conviction rates.

The felony conviction rate for the State Attorney’s Office remained at 94.6%. This statistic includes guilty pleas and jury trial verdicts.

The data for the 2022-23 fiscal year also show the office in the top five for convictions in county court for the sixth straight year. The conviction rate of 87% – up from 85.1% the prior year – exceeds the statewide average by 10 percentage points.

Overall conviction rates for the office ranked last in Florida before State Attorney Dave Aronberg took office at the start of 2013.

“These exceptional conviction rates are a credit to the great professionalism and skill of our prosecutors, with the help of a strong support staff,” Aronberg said. “We prosecute cases when there is a good faith basis to obtain convictions. Our top priority is protecting public safety, and we will continue to evaluate reforms to improve the criminal justice system.”
