A Palm Beach County jury this week returned guilty verdicts in the tragic case of a 2018 crash that instantly killed two children and two adults who were in Delray Beach for a family reunion, State Attorney Dave Aronberg announced.

Paul Streater, 25, was found guilty of four counts of vehicular homicide. Streater was the driver of a pickup truck that slammed at 107 mph into the rear of a stopped minivan carrying the victims.

Killed were: Veronica Mariel Raschiotto, 42, an accountant, son Diego Martinez Raschiotto, 8, a third-grader, daughter Mia Martinez Raschiotto, 6, a first-grader, all from Mexico; and Veronica Raschiotto’s brother, Jorge Claudio Raschiotto, 50, a university professor from Argentina.

“This verdict brings a measure of justice to the family of the victims, especially the children whose lives were tragically cut so short,” Aronberg said.

Assistant State Attorneys Storm Tropea, Joseph Kadis and Amy Berkman successfully prosecuted the case.

Streater now faces a minimum punishment of 37 years in prison, and a maximum possible penalty of a life sentence, according to state sentencing guidelines. Circuit Judge Jeffrey Gillen scheduled a sentencing hearing on Dec. 20.
