As early voting is underway, the State Attorney’s Office is reminding the community that voter intimidation, threats and harassment against election officials and poll workers will not be tolerated.

“Election officials and poll workers have an essential role in our democratic process. Any threats, intimidation or acts of violence against them will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” State Attorney Dave Aronberg said.

The State Attorney’s Office will work closely with local law enforcement agencies that investigate reports of voter intimidation, threats and harassment against election officials and poll workers. Citizens are encouraged to notify authorities of any suspicious or illegal activity related to the voting process that they happen to experience or witness.

“This is a critical time for the safety and security of our elections,” Aronberg added. “We want voters to know that they can cast their ballots without fear or intimidation, and that those who threaten this process will face serious consequences.”
