On November 24, a jury returned a guilty verdict for a man who tried to kill his former psychiatrist, Palm Beach County State Attorney Alexcia Cox announces.

After a six-day trial, Pedro Delaflor was convicted of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm. The jury rejected his insanity defense.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 5.

The shooting happened on June 14, 2023, at the parking lot of an office building in downtown Delray Beach. After the victim avoided injury, the defendant fled the scene in his car, but was apprehended on an Interstate 95 on-ramp.
