Raekwon Williams, 26, was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

On October 18, 2021, the defendant shot and killed his brother-in-law in the home they shared, according to evidence presented to the jury.

Williams fled the scene and was arrested the following day by the PBSO – Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. In a statement to the lead detective, Williams said he acted in self-defense when he shot the 31-year-old victim. The evidence didn’t align with his story.

The jury reached its verdict after seven hours of deliberations over two days. Circuit Judge Howard Coates presided over the trial and imposed the sentence.

Assistant State Attorneys Marci Rex and Bethany Johnson prosecuted the case and obtained justice for the victim.
