Assistant State Attorney Marci Rex led the prosecution, and was assisted at the trial by Assistant State Attorney Daniel Reiter.

The murder happened on the evening of Oct. 2, 2022. The following morning, less than a mile from the shooting, the defendant committed a carjacking. West Palm Beach Police officers found the unoccupied car 30 minutes later, and soon after spotted the defendant running from the scene near a canal. A dive team searched the canal and located the firearm used in the homicide.

A sentencing hearing for Brockman, 45, is scheduled for April 24.
