• David Ebersole, 57, guilty of attempted first degree murder with a deadly weapon, burglary with assault or battery, and burglary while armed. Assistant State Attorneys Wendy Borrego and Catherine Martin from our Domestic Violence Elimination unit prosecuted the case. The jury learned that Ebersole brutally attacked a woman with a hammer in 2021. He now faces up to life in prison.
• Jefferson Chinchilla, 34, guilty of sexual battery (deadly weapon/physical force) and aggravated battery. Assistant State Attorneys Alexandra Dorman and Nicole Corring, from our Special Victims Unit, prosecuted the case. The brave victim testified about the 2023 attack. The jury also found Chinchilla is a Prison Release Reoffender. As a result, he faces a life sentence.
• Carlos Palmer, 44, guilty of attempted first degree murder with a firearm. Assistant State Attorneys Jason Jovine and Michael Ryan prosecuted the case, which involved a 2023 incident. The defendant faces up to life.
• Marc Mejias, 26, guilty of robbery with a weapon, trespass and improper exhibition of a weapon. The jury also found the defendant is a Prison Release Reoffender. Assistant State Attorneys Daiana Espindola and Victoria Thacker prosecuted the case, which involved a 2024 incident.
• Chaz Blake, 42, was sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted at trial in January of burglary of an occupied structure. The jury also found Blake is a Violent Career Criminal. Assistant State Attorneys Daiana Espindola and Christy Rogers from our Violent Repeat Offender Unit prosecuted the 2023 case.
• Brandon Wilkins, 34, guilty of aggravated assault with a firearm, and felon in possession of a firearm. Wilkins pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial. He was sentenced to five years. Assistant State Attorneys Daniella Margetic and Kyley Brown prosecuted the 2023 case.
