In her first 100 days in office, State Attorney Alexcia Cox pledged to protect our seniors by prioritizing the prosecution of elder exploitation and abuse crimes. To support this commitment, we established a Special Prosecution Division focused on Elder Crimes, Cybercrimes, Animal Cruelty, and other targeted offenses.

Today, we are proud to announce a major step forward in that initiative.

Under the leadership of Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Stacey Ibarra, the Special Prosecution Division secured its first guilty verdict in an elder exploitation case. Kenvosierrah Q. King, who worked in a position of trust as a home health aide, was found guilty of two felony counts of Exploitation of an Elderly Person or Disabled Adult and two felony counts of False Verification of Ownership.

On November 24, 2023, the victim discovered that six rings—one valued at $3,000—and a high-value gold coin were missing. The Jupiter Police Department was contacted, and during the investigation, officers determined that King had pawned the rings at a local pawn shop and attempted to sell the gold coin.

We want to thank the Jupiter Police Department for their diligent work on this case. This outcome reinforces our commitment to holding accountable those who target the elderly. A sentencing hearing is scheduled on August 28.
